Recently, a large number of Presbytisphayrei, an endangered species under key national protection more commonly known as Phayre’s leaf monkeys, was found in Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. With more than 200 members, it is the largest group of its kind so far found in China. Phayre’s leaf monkeys are rarely found in China. They usually exist in small populations with less than 30 members. Therefore, the 200-member pack found in Dehong is quite rare.
