UNB

A Dhaka court yesterday placed former BNP MP Syeda Ashifa Ashrafi Papiya on a 3-day remand in three violence cases filed with Paltan and Motijheel police stations, reports UNB. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan put her on one-day remand in each case after hearing on the remand petitions. Police sought a 30-day remand for Syeda Ashifa Ashrafi Papiya in the three separate cases filed with the police stations. The court also rejected bail petition of her lawyer Aynul Abedin Mejbah. All the cases were filed on charges of obstructing police from discharging their duties, carrying out vandalism and torching vehicles during hartal-blockade programme enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
