Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperative Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Monday said the government has a plan to construct more 73 public toilets under modernisation of the open space, development and greening project of the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), reports BSS.
“A total of 37 public toilets are now at the DNCC area...every public toilet has separate system for the women ..the number of toilets is not adequate as per the number of population,” said the LGRD minister while responding to a query placed by treasury bench lawmaker Begum Fazilatunnesa Bappi of Women Reserve seat-30 at the House. On the other hand, the government has taken a initiative for construction of 47 new toilets equipped with modern facility and quality at the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC)area, said the minister, adding that initiative of renovation and development of more 17 existing toilets has also been taken under management and maintenance programme.
In the DSCC area, there are 53 public toilets and each toilets have separate system for the women, he added.
