The High Court yesterday directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take necessary actions against three the then police officers of Satkhira Sadar Police Station for their negligence in recording General Diary (GD) over a disappearance incident. The then three police officers---- Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Emdadul Haque Sheikh, sub-inspector Himel and Emdaddul's successor Firoz Hossain Mollah----were allegedly denied to record GD of the incident of disappearance of Mokhlesur Rahman Jony in August, 2016.
The HC bench comprising Justice Kazi Rezaul Hoque and Justice Mohammad Ullah came up with the order after hearing on the rule and examining the probe report submitted by the PBI over the incident. During hearing, the HC bench said that Mokhlesur’s wife Jesmin Nahar could file a case with a court in connection with the incident of his disappearance. The HC bench also asked police to record the GD, Mokhlesur’s wife want to file a GD. The HC bench fixed February 25 for passing further order on this issue.
According to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) report, the three police officers did not carry out their duties when Jesmin Nahar went to them for recording GD in connection with the incident of her husband. Mokhlesur Rahman Jony, a homeopathy doctor of New Market area in Satkhira, went missing on August 4, 2016.
In March last year, his wife Jasmin Nahar filed a writ petition with the HC, claiming that her husband went missing from police custody.
Advocate Sagupta Tabassum appeared for Nahar while deputy attorney general Taposh Kumar Biswash represented the state during yesterday’s proceedings.
