Mustafizur’s highest score!

Sports Reporter

As Bangladesh were left to tittering 170 for eight in 42.2 overs, chances were high they wouldn’t go past 200 and even couldn’t play 50 overs. The next two batsmen were Mustafizur Rahman and Rubel Hossain who haven’t have any reputation of even as an average batsmen. However Mustafizur, coming to bat at No.10 position did a wonder alongside Sunzamul Islam. He not only kept his side intact but also scored an unbeaten 18 runs with two fours, an innings that helped Bangladesh propel past 200 indeed. And this 18 not out is now his highest in the senior level cricket across three formats. His previous highest was 10 in a Test match against Sri Lanka in senior cricket.

Cremer’s 100

Zimbabwe captain Graeme Cremer became only the fifth Zimbabwean to take 100 ODI wickets and 4th all time highest wicket taker for the country when he took out his opposite number Mashrafe Bin Mortaza. But this feat came after some tensions as Mortaza reviewed the decision. However the TV replay showed the ball took the under-edge of his bat before it went to wicket-keeper’s gloves. Heath Streak was the first Zimbabwe bowler to achieve the feat then Grant Flower, Prosper Utseya and Raymond Price reached the milestone.

Jarvis does a Mustafizur

The wicket suited for the bowlers who could deliver cutters. Cutter is something that is now famous for Mustafizur Rahman. Now other bowlers of the world also try to hone the art of cutter. Zimbabwe fast bowler Kyle Jarvis was the one and did it with precision against Bangladesh to outfox the batsmen. Two of his three wickets came through cutter but the dismissal of Nasir Hossain stood out. He dug an off-cutter at short of a length and wide outside off to lure the batsman. Nasir was trapped and prompted to do a late cut that brought his downfall. It was a well strategic bowling as Nasir looked to leave the ball well.

Sikandar Raza’s 2,000

Raza became third fastest to bring up 2,000 runs for Zimbabwe following the feat of Flower Brothers’ Grant and Andy who got to the landmark in 64 and 69 innings. Raza did it in 72 innings. He needed 14 runs for touch the milestone and he did it duly.
