For the first time in Dhaka, the celebrated Indian painter Maqbool Fida Husain’s solo graphic exhibition titled ‘M.F. Husain-Journey in Graphics’ will start at the Galleri Kaya tomorrow.
Organised by Galleri Kaya, the exhibition will display a selection of 59 works done Serigraph, lithograph and Silk Screen on paper by M.F. Husain.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith and Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will jointly inaugurate the exhibition.
M.F. Husain is the most celebrated and internationally recognised Indian artist of the 20th century. Husain is primarily known for his paintings, but is also known for his drawings and his work as a printmaker, photographer, and filmmaker. Some of his later works stirred controversy, as they depicted traditional deities of India in non-traditional ways including nude portrayals of the deities. Early in his painting career, and even until his death, he enjoyed depicting the lively and free spirit of horses in many of his works. His narrative paintings, executed in a modified Cubist style, can be caustic and funny as well as serious.
ADN Group and Suhan & Anis Ahmed Foundation are the co-sponsors of the exhibition.
The exhibition will remain open to the visitors everyday from 11am to 7:30pm, until January 31.
