Bangladesh and the North American Nation of Mexico have agreed to begin foreign office level consultation between the two countries to discuss all the aspects of the bilateral relations. The first consultation will be held in Dhaka.
A memorundum of understanding (MoU) was signed in this regard at the Mexican Foreign Ministry in Mexico city on Wednesday, said a foreign ministry press release yesterday.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam signed the MoU for Bangladesh while the Mexican Foreign Minister José Antonio Meade Kuribreña signed for his country.
Signing of this MOU on the eve of the 40th anniversary of bilateral relationship between the two nations will herald a new beginning, said the release.
After the signing ceremony, both the ministers discussed in details the entire gamut of bilateral relationship. Both sides agreed to engage in intense dialogue through this MOU.
It has been decided that the first Foreign Office Consultation between Bangladesh and Mexico will take place in Dhaka.
The Mexican Foreign Minister expressed hope to open a Mexican Mission in Bangladesh at their earliest convenience.
In the morning, the State Minister held discussions with the Presidents and Director Generals of leading apparel manufacturing companies in Mexico including Samuel Gershevich Salnicov, President of Textiles Associations of Mexico.
