Tigers aim to keep winning spree

Take on Zimbabwe today
Staff Reporter

Bangladesh take on Zimbabwe today in the re-match of the tri-nation one-day tournament with an aim to keep their winning spree at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Bangladesh team management confirmed they won’t go for experimenting despite confirming the final with two matches at hands. The match starts at 12 noon. It is however likely that left arm spinner Sunzamul Islam will back to the squad, replacing pace bowling all-rounder Saifuddin.

Bangladesh got two crushing victories in the first two matches—securing an eight-wicket over Zimbabwe and 163-run win, their biggest ever victory in terms of runs, against Sri Lanka. Expectation is high on them at the moment because of the manner of the victory. Bangladesh however are determined to come all guns blazing in every match. “The remaining two matches before final are equally important for us. If you can score a hundred or take five wickets then it will be counted as well,” said Bangladesh opener Tamim

Iqbal. “We will not let loose the baton.” Tamim said each and every player of the side is hungry to prove their credential.

“I believe other players outside playing eleven are also very much capable. So I am sure if they get chance then they will try to give their best for the team. As a team we played well in last two matches. Still if we did any mistakes in those matches, then we will try to overcome it in next matches.”

It’s not that Zimbabwe’s chance will be ruined if they taste a defeat against Bangladesh but a win could help them take a strong position in the point table and more importantly their victory would certainly leave Sri Lanka in pressurized situation.

“Obviously we came here with an ambition to reach the final as we are not here only to compete,” said Zimbabwe batsman Peter Moor. “

“I think it’s a huge thing for us and everybody back home going forward to the World Cup qualifier and its massive and its a fundamental game for us and getting into the final is going to be a huge thing for us. And I know that everyone is confident that tomorrow we are going to put up a good performance.”
