BRACU student wins a2i competition

A student of BRAC business and member of Team Resurgence of HULT Prize 2017, Ivana Murtaza Asfara has won the A2i competition on Tuesday, says a press release. She pitched the idea of low cost biodegradable sanitary napkins at the competition and made it to the top 5 entrepreneurs.

Each innovator received a check of Tk 5 lakh from Mostofa Jobbar, Minister of Telecommunication Ministry. She competed against 1700 participants from all over the country.The idea was selected in top 10 and all the participants had to pitch for public voting through social media and BTV.  Team Resurgence competed in HULT Prize regional round in Shanghai in March 2017 where they came second among 64 teams from universities around the world. Resurgence was mentored by Mahreen Mamoon, Assistant Professor and with generous support from the Vice Chancellor Professor Syed Saad Andaleeb throughout their journey towards excellence.

IU ‘Tarunno’ distributes warm clothes

KUSHTIA: Tarunno, a campus based voluntary and non-political organisation of Islamic University (IU), on Wednesday distributed warm-clothes at Ratanpur Govt Primary School field in Shailkupa Upazila, Jhenaidah.

Chief adviser of Tarunno Prof M Shahjahan Mandal, its president Mominul Islam Ripon and Secretary Wahed Jubery Saiser and more than 50 Tarunno’s members were present at the worm-clothes distribution programme. The organisation distributed around 150 blankets among the poor villagers.  Tarunno launched its journey In 2009.
