Agitating students of Dhaka University (DU), organised under the banner of ‘Students Against Reparation’, wrapped the main sculptures of the university with swaths of black cloth, demanding that punishment be meted out to guilty Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists who had assaulted several DU students and molested some female students during a demonstration. The DU students also demanded the withdrawal of the “false cases” lodged by the university administration against those protesting sexual harassment following an attack on the proctor’s office.

The irate students wrapped up the face of the Raju memorial anti-terrorism sculpture and Aparajeyo Bangla yesterday (Sunday) afternoon.

They also demanded immediate resignation of the proctor and warned that they would otherwise wage an all out movement against him and the BCL assaulters.

Earlier in the morning, several hundred students brought out a procession that paraded through the Arts Faculty, Business Faculty, Science Faculty and all major streets of the university to press home their four-point charter of demands.

The protesting students also announced that they would seize the VC's office on Tuesday if their demands were not met by that time.

Earlier, on Thursday, the university administration lodged a case against 50–60 unidentified students who had allegedly broken the collapsible gate of the proctor’s office during a demonstration on Wednesday.
