7th Jatra Ustab begins at BSA

7th Jatra Utsab has begun on Tuesday at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). With the aim of implementing Jatra Development Policy 2012 and registration of Jatra troupes, Theatre and Film Department of BSA is holding this five-day festival.
The festival kicked off with the staging of ‘Shashi Babur Sangsar’ by Satata Jatra Unit (Dinajpur), besides ‘Gunai Bibi’ by The New Sathi Opera (Jamalpur), ‘Alomoti Prem Kumar’ by Surma Opera (Sylhet), ‘Mayer Chokhe Jol’ by Anjali Jatra Unit (Chuadanga), and ‘Charitrahin’ by Aroti Opera (Khulna) were staged on the opening day at the Studio Theatre Hall of BSA.
Today on the third day of the event, Rajanigandha Opera (Dhaka), New Basanti Shilpi Gosthi (Natore), Nachmohol Opera (Natore) and Adi Rangmohol Opera (Khulna) will stage their palas from 3pm to 6:45pm at the same venue.
Other 11 troupes–Swadin Bangla Natya Gosthi (Mirpur), Nobo Probhat Opera (Kushtia), Notrokothon Natya Sangha (Netrokona), Digital Opera (Jessore), Akangkha Loko Natyo Gosthi (Dhaka), Cholo Bangladesh (Gaibandha), Akhi Opera (Khulna), Bhai Bhai Jatra Opera (Sirajganj), Puja Opera (Khulna),  Charonik Natyo Gosthi (Manikganj) and  Bhagyashree Opera (Khulna) will also stage their plays during the festival.
A 15-judge panel is evaluating the performances of the troupes, while three judges are attending each show.
The staging of Jatra pala is open to the general public everyday from 3pm to 9pm, until August 29.
