Marking the 39th death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, Nazrul Institute, in collaboration with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), has organised an elaborate programme featuring commemorative discussions, award giving ceremony and cultural sessions today.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will attend the programme as chief guest and will hand over Nazrul Award 2014. The programme will be held at the Main Theatre Hall of BSA at 4pm today.
On the other hand, Dhaka University (DU) also has chalked out an elaborate programme to observe the day today.
Paying tribute to the National poet, small screens have arranged various programmes that will be aired throughout today.
Maasranga Television has arranged various special programmes. At 9:30 am, a puppet show, based on a story by Kazi Nazrul Islam, titled ‘Khuki O Kaatbirali’ by Mostafa Monowar will be aired. Then at 11:30 am, a documentary titled ‘Nazrul er Mokktobe’ will be shown. A magazine programme ‘Sanchita’ will air at 1:30 pm. Popular singers Kona and Pulok, dance artiste Sohel and Shok and elocutionist Shimul Mustafa will take part in the show. At 2:30 pm, Nazrul’s songs that have been used in films will be featured in ‘Fair and Lovely Cinetune’. A tele-film titled ‘Kuhu’, based on ‘Badhonhara’ will air at 7:50 pm. Directed by Nahid Ahmed Piyal, popular actress Sadia Islam Mou, Shams Sumon, Dwipa Khandakar, Maznun Mizan, among others, will be appearing in the tele-film.
Nazrul’s granddaughter Anandita Kazi and Kolkata’s singer Soumya Basu will take part in a special programme ‘Nazrul er Gaan’, which will be aired at 9:20 pm. Finally, at 11 pm, a live music show titled ‘Tomay Gaan Shunabo’ will be aired that will feature popular Nazrul exponent Salauddin Ahmed.
Boishakhi Television will telecast live special musical programme titled ‘Somoy Katuk Gaane Gaane’ at 3pm. Singer Priyanka Gope and Tanvir Sojib will render the songs and Mohidul Islam will recite poem on the National poet at the programme. The audience can also participate in the programme over the phone.
Among other satellite TV channels, ATN Bangla, RTV, NTV and Banglavision Television will air different programmes to mark the death anniversary of the poet.
To note, Kazi Nazrul Islam was a Bengali polymath, poet, writer, musician, revolutionary and philosopher. Popularly known as Nazrul, his poetry and music espoused Indo-Islamic renaissance and intense spiritual rebellion against fascism and oppression.
