Halda River in southeast Chittagong division is the only natural carp breeding ground in Bangladesh. Haldaa, the movie, directed by Tauquir Ahmed, highlights the river and the struggling life of the fishermen on both sides of its banks. Through the plot of this movie, we can see the lifestyle, struggles and adverse situations faced by the fishermen of the area. Natural disasters, pirate attacks, industrial pollution of the river, superstition of villagers, and so on are also featured in the movie.
Acting of Zahid Hasan and Mossharaf Karim is great as always, but Nusrat Imroze Tisha’s acting is the main attraction of the movie. Pinto Ghosh’s music is also soothing. Tauquir Ahmed wrote the screenplay, based on a story by Azad Bulbul.
Overall, the storytelling, direction, location, music and cinematography is excellent in this movie. It is another great creation of Tauqir Ahmed after Oggatonama.
Haldaa, which was released on December 1, 2017, was showcased in the Bangladesh Panorama section of the 16th Dhaka International Film Festival recently.
