The High Court (HC) yesterday upheld the death sentence of two accused in the case related to killing of a seven-year-old Alpana of Moheshpur in Jhenaidah in 2008, reports BSS.
A division bench comprised of Justice Md Ruhul Quddus and Justice Bhashmidev Chakraborty passed the order. The convicts are Md Saiful Islam and Md Arif Hossain.
Deputy attorney general Moniruzzaman Rubel, assistant attorney generals Abul Kalam Azad Khan, Syeda Sabina Ahmed and Marufa Afkter Sheuli stood for the state while lawyers SM Shahjahan and Afiluddin moved on behalf of the accused.
The convicts raped Alpana and later murdered her in a jute field at Moheshpur in Jhenaidah in 2008.
Later, father of the victim Torab Ali filed a murder case. The trial court in 2011 awarded death sentence to the accused.
