JU student suspended over admission test forgery

The authority of Jahangirnagar University (JU) has suspended a student for his alleged involvement in admission test forgery. The decision came from an emergency syndicate meeting on Wednesday night while JU Vice Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam was in the chair.

JU Registrar Abu Bakr Siddique confirmed The Independent over phone about the decision.  The suspended student was identified as Md Al Amin, a final year student of Geography and Environment Department and residential student of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall.

The disciplinary board of the university took the decision following a written complaint filed with the university proctor office on Tuesday night over a fake female student who had been attending the classes without admission since one year. According to the complaint, JU student Al Amin assured the female student that he would admit her in Journalism and Media Studies Department in exchange for TK 4.2 lakh. But Al Amin failed to admit her.

Mentionable, on Tuesday, teachers of Journalism and Media Studies department identified the female student Mofsena Takia who addressed herself as the first year student of the department.

Mofsena failed to produce authentic documents during filling up first year final examination forms. Later, she admitted that she had not passed the admission test under 2016-17 academic year and she had been attending classes on the assurance of Al Amin.

The fake female student was handed over to her family on Wednesday.
