Manjhi - The Mountain Man: An Inspirational Movie

‘Manjhi - The Mountain Man’:
An Inspirational Movie

Sheikh Iraj

Based on the life of Dashrath Manjhi, ‘Manjhi - The Mountain Man’ is truly a remarkable film. Directed by Ketan Mehta the movie was released on 21 August, but before its actual release the preview copy of the film was leaked and the movie was seen in a number of torrent sites. The movie stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Ram katara, Radhika Apte, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Gaurav Dwivedi into the leading roles. The script is co-written by Ketan Mehta and Anjum Rajabali.
The movie might make one remember the famous quote of Mark Twain-“Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn’t”. Spoiler alert: the plot of the movie depicts the true story of Dashrath Manjhi, who carved through a mountain using only a hammer and chisel. The movie is a wonderful example of the power of human spirit. Nothing is impossible if one puts his/her mind to it. It’s an emotional roller coaster ride with little comic reliefs time to time.
Many movie buffs know how Nawazuddin Siddiqui had to struggle for over 10 years in the Indian movie industry, where he used to only appear in minor roles. Now Nawazuddin Siddiqui has carved a niche for himself in the Indian movie industry after appearing in movies like Gangs of Wasseypur, The Lunchbox and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The movie in a way relates with the struggle of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s own life. He was immaculate in the movie. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has a busy schedule ahead of him, as after working with Slaman Khan he is set to work with Shah Rukh Khan in the movie Raees.
Most of the other faces in the movie seemed new, except Tigmanshu Dhulia and Pankaj Tripathi, who have previously worked with Nawazuddin Siddiqui in both the installments of Gangs of Wasseypur.
