Rubel aims to take another 150-200 wkts
Rubel Hossain

Fast bowler Rubel Hossain said Wednesday that he eyes to claim another 150-200 wickets in his kitty before being retired from the international cricket. Recently, he celebrated his 100th-ODI wickets in his 81st match what he did against Zimbabwe in the opener of the ongoing Tri-nation series.

“I’ve got 100 wickets in the span of eight-nine years. In the meantime, I was out of cricket for a year due to my injury. So many years I needed to grab the stake of wickets,” said Rubel Hossain. “Actually, it will entirely depends on how many matches I could get chance to play. Pace bowlers like our country did not get much opportunity to play matches. Whatever it is my target will be to get those numbers of wickets,” Rubel told media after their practice session for the next match against Sri Lanka.

“Therefore, I’ll want to get 250-300 wickets. Feeling will be better if I could manage it,” he added. The pacer spent a costly eight/nine-year span to reach his milestone of 100th-ODI wicket as the fifth Bangladesh bowler after Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Shakib Al Hasan, Abdur Razzak and Mohammad Rafique.

Later he admitted the reality and said that there is nothing offence to wish even though it is really tough to chalk up another 150-200 wickets in international cricket.

“It’s very tough,” he said, adding: “But I don’t see any offence to wish it. There is no offence to live with dream. I hope, let see what happens. People all but live on dreams. I   may be lived on dreams, mayn’t it?”

Rubel, who already enriched his stock with different variations, has been learning a new variation, Butterfly, since last few years but its application by him is yet to see in the field, announced that he will apply it at the time of the next day-time match what he tries to hone last few weeks.

“Still I am working on this delivery. Inshallah, I’ll apply it if I get chance. Such type of action is tough to delivery during the wet-field condition because gripping becomes tough at that situation,” the paceman said.

“I’m working on it. Hopefully I could be used it during the day-time affair,” he added.

The 28-year-old seamer regretted to not get enough opportunities to bowl with the new ball, stated that he is poised to bowl with new ball if needed for the team.

“I wish to bowl with the new ball. I’ve worked a lot over it," the right-handed pacer said.

"When a batsman charges a bowler during the new ball, ultimately I have to then come to take up the ball. If you mark the last matches then you’ll see I’ve done in many occasions. Alhamdulillah, I’ve succeeded in everywhere,” he also said.

The right-handed pacer, who shot to the limelight with his sheer pace and different style bowling action, said that they’ll attempt to restore their continuation what they played in the last match against their Asian rival in the next match of the tri-nation series.

“Last match we played good cricket. We’ll try to maintain its continuation in the next outing,” he said.

“Hathurusingha is now the coach of our opposition team. We don’t think much about it. We want to triumph the next match. We, the pacers, spinners and batsmen, are taking our preparation in that vein,” he also said.
