Following the huge success of ‘Dhaka Attack’, director Dipankar Dipon has declared his next film titled ‘Do or Die’. The film will be produced by Three Wheelers Limited and Main Square Corporation.
The announcement of Dipon’s new film came through a name unveiling ceremony held yesterday at Bishwa Sahitya Kendra in the capital’s Bangla Motor area.
With the slogan of ‘Je Golpo Sahoser, Je Golpo Birotter’ (Story of Courage, Story of Valour), the film ‘Do or Die’ is based on the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
‘Do or Die’ will depict the unbelievable heroic story of Kilo Flight. Kilo Flight is the code name for the Mukti Bahini combat aviation formation during the Liberation War. It consisted of one DHC-3 Otter plane and one Alouette III helicopter, both carrying rocket pods and machine guns for launching hit-and-run attacks on Pakistani targets, and one DC-3 Dakota for logistical missions. 9 Bengali pilots and 50 ex Pakistan Air Force personnel formed the unit under the command of Group Captain AK Khandker in September 1971. It was the first initiative taken which later became the Bangladesh Air Force.
The film will follow Shamsul Alam Bir Uttam, who was the pilot of the only DHC-3 Otter plane of Kilo flight and his dramatic real life stories.
Dipankar Dipopn said, “The Character of Shamsul Alam will be the protagonist of the film.”
“I want to declare that ‘Do or Die’ is going to be a hundred percent commercial film based on Liberation War. I want to make the film for every Bangladeshi,” he added.
To note, the cast of the film will be declared soon.
