Bangladesh Cricket Board tournament committee chairman Akram Khan dismissed the alleged match-fixing claims during the final round of this season’s National Cricket League yesterday. The accusation has been laid on the Rangpur Division-Dhaka Metropolis match. Rangpur’s 102-run win had given them their maiden NCL title.
Akram said that the inquiry body did not find any proof or anyone guilty for the alleged match fixing. He added that his committee would send letters to two teams formally to acquit them from the match-fixing issue. The complaint was lodged on March 19 by officials of Khulna Division to the BCB tournament committee. A recorded conversation between a Khulna official and a Dhaka Metropolis coach was also submitted. The board’s anti-corruption unit first investigated the matter, followed by the investigation committee.
