Aiming to produce shooters for 2016 and 2020 Olympics, Hamidur Rahman Youth Shooting Championship, organised by the Bangladesh Shooting Sport Federation (BSSF) will begin from today at the Gulshan Shooting Range in the capital. The BSSF is organising the competition for the age group shooters as their initial steps to pick up talents for future from across the country.
Intekhabul Hamid, general secretary of the BSSF, explained their objectives of this competition at a press conference yesterday at the federation complex.
Intekhab said that it is the first ever step that the shooting federation has taken the initiative to produce shooters for future. Intekhab said, “There is huge crisis of shooters, as it is very much alarming for us that in future it will be difficult to get shooters and we are going to organise the nation wide competition to collect shooters.”
“We just want to maintain the pipe line of having the future shooters.” Intekhab also said that they invited all the shooting clubs across the country and keep it open for all to make entry and to participate in the competition and have already more than 100 young shooters have already confirmed their participation in the meet. “Our target and vision is to have shooters for 2016 Olympic and 2020 Olympic Games and we will organize all kinds of training,” said Intekhab.
Under-15 to 18 years men and women will take part in six events in the youth competition.
