Newly-revived Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) High Performance Team will go to Bogra for the next two weeks in a bid to hold their practice at Shaheed Chandu Stadium on September 1. During their stay in Bogra, the need-based team will play some practice matches beside their training sessions. Head coach Malachy Bernard Loye, well-known as Mal Loye and Paul Terry, director of coaches for the HP team will supervise them at this phase.
They will play a couple of practice matches against a combined team to be formed by Rajshahi and Rangpur Divisional players, who will perform in the upcoming edition of the National Cricket League (NCL), which is scheduled to commence from September 17 with the participation of the national team’s players.
Ahead of the home Test series, players from nation side will get opportunity to play one round game of the NCL, which will be run by newly-introduced ‘two-tier’ system for the first time in domestic circuit. Gulam Mortuza, elite coach-fielding and wicketkeeping for HP team, said that they will head into Bogra to make their habituation at different condition. “We have been practicing in Dhaka’s different grounds since its journey. In next week, we will go out of Dhaka for two weeks,” said Gulam Mortuza.
“Beside their training sessions, the team will play some practice matches amongst themselves alongside a combined team at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra. Players will be released on September 15 for the upcoming NCL,” Mortuza told The Independent at National Cricket Academy. On the other hand, Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza joined with the team’s conditioning camp for the first time. The skipper returned home from Singapore, where went there with his family prior to the onset of the conditioning camp for the 27-member elite players.
