Nurul Hasan hits century for South Zone

All eyes were on left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak as he was one wicket away from the domestic record of 500 first-class wickets but it has not made on the second day game as he remained wicketless despite being bowled three overs out of seven what he got against Walton Central Zone.

At the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothisthan (BKSP) batting paradise, Prime Bank South Zone batted almost throughout the second day of the second round fixture of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL).

Resuming on 108-2, South Zone finally added another 340 runs on the board at the cost of the rest eight wickets, whereby national discard wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan Sohan smashed a brilliant century. Record-holder Tushar Imran converted his overnight 40 to his 54th half century before being caught behind for 56. Overnight batsman Shahriar Nafees missed his century. He holed out for 80 to resume on overnight 53.

Therefore, the team lost Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, who got out for 17. After Saikat’s fall, Nurul Hasan appeared in the crease and stitched together a couple of partnerships that actually widened their total.

This wicketkeeper-batsman bashed 82 with Al Amin Junior for the sixth-wicket and 99 with Ziaur Rahman for the seventh-wicket partnership en route to his scintillating 133. After Nafees and Tushar, Al Amin also struck fifty. His 70-ball 52 featured with four fours and one six.

When Sohan got out on 133 off 129, South Zone put on 406-7 on the score sheet. His four-ladden innings contained 15 boundaries along with three boundaries.  Later Abdur Razzak’s 23 and Al Amin Hossain’s not out 24 boosted South Zone’s first innings.

Fast bowlers Abu Haider Rony and Ebadot Hossain evenly shared six wickets between them.   

In reply, Walton Central Zone put on 14 in seven overs with no wicket. Sadman Islam was at stump on 10, while Robiul Islam Robi batting on two.
