Though they lost the opener of the tri-national series, Zimbabwe opener Hamilton Masakadza on Tuesday said that they will try their utmost best to bounce back into the three-team contention.
Masakadza also said that they will get down with a different game plan to tame their rival as it’ll new outing and its opponent will be different.
“It is a different opposition tomorrow,” said Hamilton Masakadza, who played so far 36 Tests, 179 ODIs coupled with 50 T20Is for Zimbabwe.
“We didn’t have a great start to the tournament (against the hosts Bangladesh), Masakadza told reporters at his pre-match day press conference in Mirpur yesterday. “Obviously we are trying to bring back ourselves into contention,” he added.
Despite playing game at last night, Zimbabwe were appeared in Mirpur with the entire contingent and held an intense practice session at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground yesterday.
The batsmen honed their batting skills against local net bowlers besides their regular team bowlers at a longer practice session supervised by their head coach Heath Streak.
Many talks were held here and there about Mirpur wickets at the times of the last Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). But this time it has as usual what it is in Mirpur’s track as Zimbabwean experienced opener said.
“It was a little damper than it would be. Apart from that, it is a usual Mirpur wicket,” the 34-year-old said.
Beside his national stint, Masakadza had played in domestic cricket competition Bangladesh in many occasions in his over decade-long career. He has very good idea about Bangladesh condition.
Along with that, they have a happy memory to beat Sri Lankan at their (SL) home den in recent past, which will be a big boost in their confidence to handle their next Asian rivals of the tournament. So, it’ll not be easier for any team to notch the match in favour of them or it’s difficult to predict which team will be victorious.
