More than 80,000 Hajj visas for Bangladeshi pilgrims have already been issued, newly-appointed Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah H.M. Almutairi informed Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali yesterday.
A total of 101,758 pilgrims are expected to perform Hajj this year to take place at the end of next month.
“The Saudi Ambassador has informed the Foreign Minister about the progress of issuing Hajj visas and he mentioned that until now more than 80 thousand visas have been issued,” said a Foreign Ministry press release.
During the maiden meeting between the Minister and the Ambassador, the exchange of high level visits between the two countries has also been discussed.
Ambassador Almutairi has assured the Foreign minister of working for further strengthening the existing bilateral relations and expanding other cooperation between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.
Welcoming the envoy, the Foreign Minister assured him all-out cooperation while discharging his responsibilities.
Ambassador Almutairi arrived in Dhaka on 26 July and presented his credentials on August 19.
