Woman beat up by drug addict son
A woman was beat up and injured by his drug addicted son at Daukandi Parila village of Rajshahi on Sunday. The injured woman was Monjuara Begum, 50.
Monjuaras another son Mithun Ali said that his elder brother Mahabur Rahman, who is drug addict, used to torture his parents over money.
Mahabur beat up his mother again on Sunday morning for money, said Mithun.
On information, he rescued his mother and admitted to Durgapur Upazila Health Complex.
Mithun also claimed that they informed police about his drug addicted brother but law enforcers did not take any action yet.
City building fire doused
The fire that broke out in a building in Tejkunipara of the capital on Monday morning, was doused after half an hour of frantic efforts.
Fire service control room sources said that the fire broke out at the tin-shed rooms on the rooftop of a two-storey building around 11:30am.
On information, six firefighting units rushed in and put out the flame around 12pm, said the source.
The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.
Five cops, 3 organisations awarded
The Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police has awarded its five personnel and three organisations with medals acknowledging their professional and organisational excellence and courage in discharging duties.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for Rangpur Range Khondker Golam Faruk distributed the awards at the monthly crime, law and order assessment meeting for December held at his conference room in Rangpur on Sunday afternoon, officials said.
He distributed the medals among the police personnel of all eight districts under Rangpur Range for laudable performances in maintaining law and order and handling crimes.
