Shooting of Farooki's ‘Saturday Afternoon’ packs up

Eminent filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has packed up the principal shooting of his latest film ‘Saturday Afternoon’ (Shanibar Bikel) on Sunday.

DhakaLive has news that after conducting rehearsal for 17 days, the film has been shot in just one take. Berlin Silver Bear award-winning cinematographer Aziz Zhambakiev has shot the film.

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki posted his thoughts after the completion of the film’s shooting in his Facebook account, “I had a dream. I saw this dream many months ago. Then Aziz Shivang Zhambakiyev joined me, followed by Abdul Aziz, Anna Katchko, my team, cast and crews from twelve different countries. And they all believed and owned the dream. We knew it’s never going to be easy as it required a special kind of execution. Today we completed the principal photography of the film ‘Saturday Afternoon’.”

Popular filmmaker Redoan Rony and television commercial maker Adnan Al Rajeev both have taken the responsibility of the chief assistant directors of the film.

‘Saturday Afternoon’ has an ensemble cast, which includes versatile actress Nusrat Imroz Tisha, Palestinian actor Eyad Hourani, popular Indian actor Parambrata Chatterjee, Zahid Hasan, Iresh Zaker and others.

The film is being jointly produced by Abdul Aziz, Shyam Sundar Dey, Mostofa Sarwer Farooki and Anna Katchko is on board as the co-producer of the film.

‘Saturday Afternoon’ will be the first film in Farooki’s ‘Identity’ trilogy. The second will be ‘No Land’s Man,’ which received grants from India’s Film Bazaar and the Asia Pacific Screen Academy-Motion Picture Association film fund. The third film will be on the Rohingya ethnic group, who are facing ethnic extinction in Myanmar.
