Omar Ali High School in Boliarchar village of Raj Rajeswar union under Chandpur Sadar upazila recently held a special programme on the school premises to teach students moral values and how to respect mothers. The mothers of 100 Class VI students were invited to the programme, which was held on January 11.
Md Shafillah Sarker, headmaster of the school, said: “We usually don’t pay heed to our mothers’ advice. We seldom honour them as they are mostly illiterate or half-educated. But mothers are above all of us and even the paradise honours them. Give them the honour and respect they deserve.”
Alhaj Hazrat Ali Bepary, local UP chairman, Mohammad Saddam Hossain, president of the NGO Alor Pothe, its general secretary, a girl student and an assistant teacher also spoke at the event.
The speakers commented on the moral degeneration and current trend of disintegration of family ties.
They urged the school authority to hold such programmes every year.
The headmaster said similar programmes would be held for students of other classes in future.
