Club Carnival 2015 at Eastern University
Eastern University (EU) celebrated Club Carnival 2015 on 18th August on EU campus, Dhanmondi, Dhaka to promote extra-curricular activities. The carnival was inaugurated by Rashed Khan Menon, M.P, Minister, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Peoples Republic of Bangladesh. The chairman of EU Board of Trustees, Abul Khair Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, Professor Dr. Abdur Rab, Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury along with deans, chairpersons, faculty members and officials graced the occasion with their presence. A large number of students gathered in the programme.
The objective of the carnival was to motivate students to participate in extra-curricular activities so that they can bring innovation, diversity and harmony in their ideas. The carnival was celebrated through daylong diverse activities such as seminars, workshops and debates, drama, cultural programme, galaxy of photographs and projects, and entrepreneurship and social services. In the morning there was a seminar on Role of Co-curricular Activities in Higher Education. At the seminar the Chief Guest Rashed Khan Menon, M.P praised the initiative taken by Eastern University to enrich the extra-curricular activities of EU students besides regular curricular activities.
Eastern University Drama and Theater Club staged the drama Mohamaya of Rabindranath Tagore. Eastern University Cultural Club presented a Cultural Programme. Debating Club organized a friendly debate competition among new and old debaters of EU. Business and Social Entrepreneurship Club presented Flash Mob and business games and quiz competition. Spark Creative Writers Forum staged a Bangla poem recitation session. Social Welfare Club organised a free blood grouping camp and blood donation programme in collaboration with Bangladesh Thalassemia Foundation. Engineering Club organised their robotic exhibition in the club carnival. The best participating club was awarded with prizes at the end of the carnival.
