USAID global chief Lenhardt due tomorrow

Head of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Alfonso Lenhardt is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka tomorrow on a four-day visit to discuss how both countries can work together further to achieve Bangladesh’s 2021 Vision, reports UNB
During his stay in Dhaka, Lenhardt will meet several ministers to discuss the ongoing partnership between Bangladesh and the SA towards achieving the goal of helping Bangladesh to become a middle-income country by 2021.
Administrator Lenhardt leads USAID-the primary US Government agency works to end extreme global poverty.
The US government, through USAID, has provided over $6 billion in development assistance to Bangladesh since 1971.
In 2014, USAID provided nearly $200 million to improve the lives of people in Bangladesh.
USAID supports pro-grammes in Bangladesh that promote democratic institutions and practices, expand food security and economic opportunity, improve health and education services, and increase resiliency to climate change through adaptation and low carbon development
