IU online admission process begins Sept 13
KUShTIA: The online admission process for the first year honours courses of Islamic University (IU) for the 2015-16 academic sessions will begin on September 13 and will continue till October 15, an IU press release confirmed.
The detailed information about admission process is available on IU website www.iubd.net and www.iu.ac.bd.
Meditation workshop at SUST begins today
SYLHET: A meditation workshop on ‘how to use the power of thought to improve confidence and creativity’ will be held on Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) campus today.
The workshop will be organised by Quantum SUST. The programme will begin at 4pm and continue till 6pm at central auditorium of the university. The registration to participate in the workshop is going on and the registration fee is fixed Tk 30. All the students can participate in the workshop.
Pranjit Lal Shill, organier of Quantum Foundation of Dhaka and Kazi Shamim, managing director of KIM will attend the workshop as key note speakers.
KUET launches e-tender
KHULNA: Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) launched electronic tendering (e-tender) system on Monday.
Vice-Chancellor of KUET Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated the e-tender at his office. Speaking briefly on the occasion, Dr Alamgir said the introduction of e-tender would help stop tender manipulation in future.
He said KUET launched the programme for building a digital Bangladesh dreamt by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Deputy Director of KUET Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan and sub-project managers of four projects under Higher Education and Quality Education Project (HEQEP) attended the function.

Seminar on mathematics held
The Department of Mathematics of Jagannath University (JnU) and Bangladesh Mathematical Society (BMS) organised a seminar titled ‘applications of mathematics in real life’ at the University Central auditorium on Saturday.
JnU Vice-Chancellor Mizanur Rahman was the chief guest in the programme. Chaired by Md Rezaul Karim, chairperson of Mathematics department, JnU and Payer Ahmed, professor of the Department of Mathematics, JnU was convener of the seminar and delivered welcome speech in the ceremony.
Jahrul Alam, associate professor of Newfoundland Memorial University, Canada,
presented a keynote paper on ‘multi-state large eddy simulation of the atmospheric boundary layer’.
Realizing the existing present math research, the faculty members of the department cherished their strong desire to continue such SAMRL-2015 programme at all public and private universities even government colleges-schools in Bangladesh.
