The speakers stressed on involving the civil society members, public representatives, politicians, community leaders, teachers, socio-cultural and professional activists to end repression and violence against women.
Narrating various types of repressions, they said women are being subjected to violence, torture and abuse everywhere including their families, workplaces, streets and transports due to lack of adequate social awareness. Besides, lack of specific laws on sexual assault has further aided the rise in violence against women.
Terming this social curse as the main barrier towards flourishing women empowerment, the speakers suggested for incorporation of the concept of gender equality in school curriculums to help students develop hatred against society's ills and evils.
