Students, employees and teachers of Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College formed a human chain in the city yesterday demanding security of their lives from criminals, including drug addicts, ruling the campus.
They formed the human chain in front of Gazipur deputy commissioner’s office, also protesting attack on the college hostels and students by drug addicts.
It is worth mentioning, some drug adducts entered the college campus and tried to take drugs on August 24.
The students of the college protested this.
As a result, after a few minutes, they attacked the students with the help of their associates. They injured three of the students by stabbing and beating.
The injured include third year’s students Rabiul alam and Sajjad Hossain and first year’s student Nahid.
The attackers also stabbed an employee of the college and canteen manager Masum Miah. A case was filed with Joydebpur police station against five people in this connection.
Since that day, the criminals have been issuing threat continuously to kill the students.
Teachers, students and employees of the college formed the human chain demanding security of the students and learning environment on the college campus, bringing out criminals under justice and establishing a police outpost on the campus.
Principal of the college Dr Suvash Chandra Saha, president of Bangladesh Medical Association Gazipur district unit Dr Mohammed Amir Hossain Rahat and Mohammed Jayed Bin Arifin spoke among others at the human chain.
