ACC wants report on shop allotment
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has issued a notice to Dhaka South City Corporation asking it to submit a report on irregularities in allotment of shops in markets under the city corporation by September 2.
Md Julfikar Ali, assistant director of ACC issued the letter on Tuesday to DSCC mayor Sayeed Khokon.
The ACC sources said before the elected mayor took charge, a syndicate embezzled hundred crore taka in the name of allotting 5,000 shops for South City Corporation markets in the capital.
The syndicate established 11 supermarkets, set up shops indiscriminately in 20 places, allotted 1242 shops with fake names of 14 co-operative society and shared 25 per cent mayor, freedom fighter and disable quotas by the co-operative members, the letter said.
The letter also asked to submit the tender notice of newspapers including the name and designation of the committee members concerned with allotting 1242 shops in Jatrabari City Corporation Market, 600 shops in Bangabazar Complex Market, 1742 shops in Dhaka Trade Super Market, 32 shops in Sayedabad Railway Market, Nilkhet road side markets, South Plaza in Dhaka New Super Market, Abdur Rahim Waqf estate mosque adjacent open space, Sundarban Square Market, Ahsan Manjil Super Market, Kaptanbazar road side market, 5th building of Nabab Yousuf Market, Palashi Azimpur road side market, 13no Khatian market adjacent to Boldha Garden and North-East corner of Osmani Udyan.
