Stocks closed the week down yesterday with falling trends of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges as the daily transactions declined amid volatility in large-cap securities, reports BSS. During the week, the daily average trade value declined by over 14 per cent to Tk 446.30 crore and the average trade volume fell by 18.30 per cent to 11.70 crore shares. The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 123.52 points down at 6,179.32. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 34.97 points down at 2,260.25 and with 16.05 points down at 1,391.55 respectively. Out of the 338
issues traded on DSE, 77 gained against 242 losing issues. The top five gainers of the week were Jute Spinning, Meghan Petroleum, Meghna Condense Milk, BD Auto Cars and Aziz Pipes.
The major losing issues of the week were ALIF, Shahjalal Bank, NAHEEACP, United Air and Northern. The top five turnover leaders were Ifad Autos, UPGDCL, PTL, National Tubes and ALIF. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 396.56 points lower at 19,098.43.
