Woman ‘tortured to death’ in Sunamganj

Sunamganj: A housewife was tortured to death allegedly by her philandering husband over a marital feud at Berigaon village of Sadar upazila in the district on Wednesday, reports UNB. The victim was identified as Firoza Khatun, 28, daughter of Md Shahjahan Mia of Berigaon village, wife of Md Ali Mansur, son of Dadon Mia from Ballabpur village of the upazila and mother of three children. Firoza’s brother Anwar Hossain said Mansur used to torture Firoza often, and such abusive behaviour was getting more and more acute over family feud after he married two other women without informing Firoza. On Tuesday, Mansur actually Firoza at her father’s residence leaving her critically injured.

The victim was rushed to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital and later was referred to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday, said Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Model Police Station Md Shahidullah.
