A foundation stone for preserving memories of Liberation War was laid at Barisal Water Development Board in the city on Wednesday. The project at the cost of 3.31 crore including preservation of torture cell, bunkers, mass killing ground, construction of link roads, electrification, beautification etc. The work is scheduled to be completed within two years.
Md Habibur Rahman, deputy commissioner, attended the programme as chief guest. The programme, presided over by Sk Qutubuddin, commander of district Muktijoddha Command. Officials of Muktijoddha Sangsad, Barisal City Corporation, Water Development Board attended the programme on the occasion.
Enayet Hossain Chowdhury, organising commander of district Muktijoddha Sangsad, said “The project was scheduled to be started on June 20, 2017 and ended within two years, but it has been delayed. due to bureaucratic formalities and objection of WDB.
