Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) physicians have no concern about their ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s injury and his participation in the upcoming tri-nation home series but they still have concerns about batsman Imrul Kayes and fast bowler Rubel Hossain’s injury.

Mashrafe and Rubel sustained injuries on their fingers on the same day during the intense practice ahead of the imminent series, which will be kicked off on January 15.

“We all know that Mashrafe like every pace bowler is injury-prone but he personally managed him through regular exercise. After sustaining injury on his finger, this time he regularly took part in the practice session and bowled at net and match-condition practice without any difficulty. Even he did his extra gym session what he usually does to keep him fit for the games,” Dr Debashis Roy said of Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe.

On the other hand, Imrul, who received injury on his thumb, started practicing with the team after being rested for two days. But he is yet to take part in the fielding session.

In contrast, Rubel, who got injury on his left hand finger, is also practicing with the team but he is also yet to start fielding and batting. But they both are progressing everyday.

“Rubel still has pain and swell in his finger. Although Rubel attended  bowling practice with the team he is yet to do fielding and batting,” Debashis said, adding: “Imrul still has pain and has also been batting with it. Such pain is not a big factor if the player himself continues playing but he is achieving his progress daily. We’ve dropped the matter over him of his playing.”

“Actually we will see Imrul and Rubel in fielding and batting session and then take a final test of them before the final selection if they are considered for the selection for the opening match of the series,” he told The Independent.

“If they are not fit hundred percent, in that case, we will not give our green signal to them for playing the very first game of the series. But they have to give some more times to fully recuperate from their injuries,” he added.
