Abahani to receive Premier League trophy today

Abahani Limited prepared to celebrate their sixth times championship of the Professional Football League when they will receive the trophy after their last match of the Saif Power Battery Premier Football League  today against Chittagong Abahani at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. The match will start at 5:45pm.

Abahani Limited, who in fact showed their real powers to win the title after a strong come back when at one stage their possibility to remain in the title race was almost faded away when they were five points behind the then table toppers Chittagong Abahani after a shocking defeat to Saif Power Sporting but did not look back to bounce back strongly and finally left behind all to finish as champions.

However, the Sky-Blue want to receive the trophy with huge enthusiasm when they will come at the Bangabandhu National Stadium Accompanied by some thousands of fans riding on horse carts, wearing coloured jerseys, banner, festoon led by the Abahani players.

Sattiyajit Das Rupu, when informed yesterday about their preparation of ‘Trophy Receive’ celebration, said that they wanted to entertain the victory with merry mood.

Abahani confirmed to retain the title before one match left to play after outplaying their closest contenders Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 2-0.

However, Abahani long server manager Rupu said, “This time we will celebrate the championship with a different way, hopefully number of fans will gather at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.”

“We will distribute Yellow-Blue and Sky Blue coloured T-shirts to the fans designed with written ‘Champions’ will come with also a colourful rally riding on horse carts,” said Rupu.

“Though, the championship was confirmed after winning the match against Jamal but had to wait for the last match, turned into a formalities,” replied to a query.

Meanwhile, if Abahani will win the match today against Chittagong Abahani, then it will become very uncertain for the Chittagong outfit at least to have some solace clinching the third ;position when Saif power Sporting are also contenders to claim the position.
