DU listed among 350 best universities of Asia
Dhaka University was listed among the 350 best universities of Asia according to the Times Higher Education World University Ranking-2018.
For the achievement, the Times Higher Education congratulated DU’s Vice-Chancellor Dr Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman through a fax massage yesterday.
This university ranking list will be officially declared in the forthcoming Asian Universities Summit-2018, scheduled to be held in China, on 5-7 February.
The vice-chancellors of the ranked universities will be present on the three-day summit.
JU 48th founding anniversary tomorrow
SAVAR: The authority of Jahangirnagar University (JU) is set to observe its 48th founding anniversary on Friday through a daylong programme.
The daylong programmes will begin by hoisting the national flag and university flag on the premises of Business Studies Faculty around 10 am, said a press release signed by JU Registrar Abu Bakr Siddique.
The programmes include pomp rally, puppet show, pitha mela (cake fair), staging drama, observing alumni day, raffle draw, grand lunch and cultural soiree.
Jahangirnagar University was formally launched on January 12 in 1970 under the Jahangirnagar Muslim University Ordinance, 1970.
IUTA new body takes charge
KUSHTIA: The newly elected executive committee of Islamic University Teachers’ Association (IUTA) took charge at a programme on Tuesday noon for one-year term.
Chairman of IU Folklore Studies Department Prof M Saidur Rahman conducted the function while former president Prof M Mahbubur Rahman was in the chair, said sources at IUTA office on Wednesday.
The newly elected committee was accorded reception at the function.
Among others, Humanities and Social Science Faculty Dean Prof Nesar Uddin and Applied Science and Technology Faculty Dean Prof Momtazul Islam were present on the function.
Orientation programme of MBBS held
An orientation programme for the 23rd MBBS batch students of Gonoshasthaya Samaj Vittik Medical College of Gono Bishwabidyalay was held on its own campus at Savar yesterday, says a press release.
University Vice-chancellor (Acting) Prof Laila Parveen Banu was present as chief guest while Registrar Md Delower Hossain was the special guest. Principal of Gonoshasthaya Samajvittik Medical College Prof Farida Adib Khanum presided over the programme. Dean, Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences Prof Md Ashraf Ul Karim Khan, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Prof Mostafizer Rahman and Controller Mir Murtoza Ali and Head of Biochemistry Department Md Shakil Mahmood addressed the programme among other.s The speakers urged the students to become a good human being as well as a good doctor on the occasion.
