Healthcare centre for Rohingyas opens in Ukhiya

A healthcare centre for Rohingya women and children was inaugurated at Hakimpara in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Tuesdeay. Dhaka Community Hospital Trust (DCH Trust) and Peace Winds Japan (PWJ) jointly established the centre, says a press release.

The centre will support maternal and child healthcare service by providing ANC (Absolute Neutrophil Count), safe delivery, PNC (Premature Nodal Contraction) service, nutritional supplements, family planning, primary healthcare service, pathological services and a specialised care to the Rohingya people. It will also be used as an emergency and referral service as well. Mobile clinic and public health campaign are also continuing at Moinarghona, Balukhali, Thaingkhali and Palangkhali of Ukhiya upazila, Cox’s Bazar for the remote Rohingya patients.

At the inaugural ceremony Dr Misbah Uddin Ahmed, Upazila Health & Planning Officer was present as chief guest. Among others, Capt M Abu Taher (AMC) medical officer, Hakimpara Camp; Lt Rakib, Camp Commander of Hakimpara Camp, Thaingkhali, Ronjit Halder, Manager of Project & Research Dept at DCHT and Prof Dr Monirul Alam were present there.
