An alleged criminal was killed in a gunfight between two groups of miscreants at Howanak in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox's Bazar yesterday night, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Absar Ali, 28, son of Abul Kalam of Howanak Kalagazipara. Pradip Kumar Das, OC of Maheshkhali Police Station, said there had been a longstanding dispute between 'Jalal Bahini' and 'Jonab Ali Bahini' over establishing supremacy in the locality.
The two groups locked into a gunfight around 9pm when gunshots were exchanged between them, leaving Absar, a member of 'Jalal Bahini', dead on spot, he said.
