A late hour strike from Mohammed Arif gave Arambagh Krira Sangha a great relief when they defeated Team BMC by a solitary goal to earn valuable points in the Saif Power Battery Bangladesh Premier League football yesterday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Arambagh, who were under tremendous threat of relegation from the last few rounds, after obtaining full three the points retrieved from the great scare, as they lifted their tally to 20 from 17 points.
The match was very much crucial for Arambagh and finally grabbed the result in their favour but before scoring the goal the match was almost a dull affairs.
Arambagh managed to secure slightly more possession in the match but could enjoy it one-sidedly, as BJMC looked to be evenly with sharing the balls, at least, when they also came closer to score a goal just four minutes later after getting rid of a big threat. But Kingsley Oshiokha’s weak right footer from the penalty-arch comfortably gripped by the goalkeeper.
Maruful’s men were not only more committed and compact, also tried to play with short passes.
And they forced at least, into earnest action and also got the most valuable goal in the 83rd minute when it was initiated through Shufil who rushed inside the area with a solo effort and just before taking the shot a BJMC defender cleared it at the cost of corner. Sumon Ali took a pin-pointed kick which dropped into the box and BJMC defenders failed to deal with the corner kick and their goalkeeper also fail to grip the ball but an unmarked Mohammed Arif was very sharp to send the ball into near post giving no chance (1-0).
