‘Lok Lokaloy’ turns 35

Khagrachhari: On January 6 it has been 35 years of telecasting ‘Lok Lokaloy,’ a programme of Bangladesh Television (BTV), the only state-owned television channel, says a press release.

The programme has been contributing a lot to preserve the culture of ethnic minority groups of the country.

As elsewhere in the country, well-known artistes from different fields of the cultural arena, cultural organisers and other renowned personalities observed the day as Ethnic Culture Promotion Day through different programmes in Khagrachhari.  On the occasion a procession was brought out that paraded main streets of the district.

A meeting on the success of ‘Lok Lokaloy’ was also held to mark the day. Renowned cultural personality Md Abul Kashem presided over the meeting while Mongsui Prue Chowdhury, Member, Khagrachari Hill District Council was present as the chief guest.

According to the speakers, through telecasting different programmes and reports on ethnic tradition, festivals and lifestyle BTV contributed a lot to preserve the culture of the ethnic minority groups. Artistes of different ethnic groups expressed their gratitude to BTV for its contribution.
