RU teacher to get international award

RAJSHAHI: Mustak Ahmed, an Associate Professor of the Mass Communication and Journalism department at Rajshahi University (RU), has been selected for this year’s International Academic Achievers Award (IAAA).

South Asia Management Association (SAMA) will hand over the ‘Best Teacher of the Year Award’ during a three-day international conference in Uttar Pradesh of India.

Munshi Raghunandan Prasad Sardar Patel Mahila PG College Barabanki in association with SAMA will arrange the international conference on January 27-29 with the theme ‘Higher education standards and trends towards multidisciplinary studies in the world’ where academics, researchers and scholars of the Asian region will take part.

Mustak Ahmed has been nominated for the award for his outstanding contributions to the mass communication and journalism field in the country.

BAU installs CCTV camera for security

MYMENSINGH: A total of 62 close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed at various important areas of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) to boost up the security on the campus.  

Vice-chancellor of BAU Prof Md Ali Akbar on Saturday inaugurated the CCTV monitoring room of the university security section. Besides this, two other monitoring rooms were also in Vice-Chancellor and Proctor office.Vice-chancellor said to keep this (BAU) largest agricultural university of South-Asia from all types of unwanted activities, the measure has been taken.

Students Affairs’ Advisor Prof SD Chawdhury, proctor Prof Md Atikur Rahman Khokon, director of Security Council Prof Md Azharrul Haque were also present.

Physics Olympiad held at IUB

The 8th Dutch-Bangla Bank Prothom-Alo Bangladesh Physics Olympiad 2018 was held in collaboration with Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) on Saturday on IUB campus at Bashundhara in the capital, says a press release.

The Bangladesh Physics Olympiad is held annually and takes place in two phases. The first phase consists of 12 regional contests.

IUB is hosting the contest for Dhaka region. The top candidates from each category will be given awards and will participate in the national contest. A total number of 1084 students from various schools and collegeso of Dhaka region took part in this national competition.   After the daylong programme, Prof M Omar Rahman, vice-chancellor of IUB distributed medals and certificates among the winners as chief quest.
