A moderate earthquake was felt in some parts of the country yesterday at 12 hours 47 minutes 16 seconds (BST), according to a met press release, reports BSS. The epicentre of the tremor was in Myanmar-India border region, 470 kilometre east-northeast from the Seismic Centre of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) at Agargaon in the capital, said the release.
The magnitude of the tremor was 5.5 on the Richter Scale, it added.
The tremor was felt in Chittagong and Comilla regions, but there was no report of casualties, said a BMD official.
