Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday ordered the Chittagong Deputy Commissioner to ensure the proper treatment of ailing Mohammad Yusuf, former Member of Parliament (MP). The Prime Minister gave the direction while the news of the former MP’s health and living condition came to her notice through social media, said Masukur Rahman Sikder, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong.
Masukur Rahman Sikder said, “As PM’s direction we asked the Civil Surgeon to take necessary measures to treat the former MP and a team of doctors and nurses went to Mohammad Yusuf's house in Rangunia led by Civil Surgeon Azizur Rahman Siddiqui yesterday at around 10:30 am.
Later he was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).”
Azizur Rahman Siddiqui, Civil Surgeon of Chittagong said, “Prime Minister ordered the treatment of former MP Mohammad Yusuf. The government will bear all the costs.
He has been suffering many old age diseases. Earlier he had brain stroke.
“We have made an expert doctors team to treat him. A cabin has been allotted for him in CMCH. If necessary, he will be taken to Dhaka for better treatment,” said the Civil Surgeon.
Mohammad Yusuf’s younger brother Mohammed Sekander said, “Some doctors came to our house in the morning. They brought him to the CMCH as saying for better treatment of him. He is not taking food for the past five days.” Mohammad Yusuf was elected MP from Rangunia of Chittagong as a candidate of the Communist Party in the 1991 parliamentary elections.
