3 charged for Rakib murder

Police yesterday pressed charges against three people in a case filed over the killing of 12-year boy Rakib after torture by his former employer over quitting job, reports UNB.
Sub-inspector Kazi Mushtaq Ahmed, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the chargesheet with the Metropolitan Magistrate court around 1 pm.
The chargesheeted accused are Md Sharif, Mintu Mia and Sharif’s mother Beauty Begum.
On August 3, Rakib, who used to work at a motorcycle garage at Tutpara Central Road in Khulna city, was tortured to death allegedly by his former employer over quitting job.
Alam Haldar, victim’s father, filed a case with Sadar Police Station against three people—Sharif, Mintu and Beauty Begum—after the brutal killing.
Later, Mintu Khan, a so-called uncle of M Omar Sharif, the prime accused in the case, reportedly confessed to his crime before a local court on August 13 while Sharif made his confessional statement on August 12 and his mother Beauty Begum, also an accused in the case, confessed to her involvement in the incident on August 6.

On August 5, Kulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) formed a three-member probe body to investigate the brutal killing of the boy.
The probe body was formed with Additional Police Commissioner Mahbubul Hakim as its chief.
