The divisional phase of the Bangladesh Youth Games will run from today with 3,473 players, who were picked up from districts level, taking part in the meet.
The highest number of 778 players will compete in the 11 disciplines in teams and individual events in Dhaka division.
The sports competition of Dhaka division will take place at the Bangabandhu National Stadium and different venues in the city and at the at the BKSP grounds.
Chittagong division’s competition of 10 disciplines will take place at the MA Aziz Stadium, Gymnasium, Sagorika Sports Complex, Chittagong Swimming Pool and Sylhet Divisional competition of six disciplines will take place at the Sylhet District Stadium and Abul Mal Abdul Muhit Sports Complex.
Menwhile, in the district level a total of 23,210 players participated in the competition after proper supervision and examination of their ages.
The deputy secretary general of the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Ashiqur Rahman Miku informed the reporters at a press conference about the up-date of the Youth Games being organised for the firs time by the BOA.
Miku said that they were satisfied with the huge numbers of participants and gave importance about the age and the standard of the competitors.
“We are happy with the selection, we were cautious about the age and the standard of the players and about the players' quality.”
BOA secretary general Syed Shahed Reza said. “finally selected players will not be lost, they would have proper nursing under BOA.”
