Riding on an early strike from Ciyo Zunapio Brothers Union had a great relief when they defeated Farashganj Sporting Club by a solitary goal in the Saif Power Battery Bangladesh Premier League football yesterday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

After winning the match, Brothers brought their tally 19 points to go safe side as before this match they were also not fully out of danger but suffering the defeat in the must win situation, the fate of Farashganj hanged on their last match against Sheikh Jamal and also their relegation threatened Rahamtganj MFS’ next two matches results.

However, in the battle of getting rid of from the relegation peril Farashganj could have gone ahead in the 18th minute when they were demonstrating better performance with attacking approach and open space in the 18th minute.

Story could have been different, if the powerful effort of Mona could find the net when a sudden right footer from near the penalty arch saw narrowly missed the post after Jewel Mollik set a square pass.

Brothers, who were also struggling to bring them out from danger zone, went closer with producing first chance on 25th minute but a sky-high left foot volley from the penalty box of Mostakin went over the cross bar.

Brothers, who adopted a little bit counter attacks strategy but very organised and switched on quick moves, took the lead with a fabulous side volley from Ciyo Zunapi. The forward from Congo blasted his right-footer capitalising on his unmarked position inside the area when Masud Rana floated a cross on 39th minute (1-0).

Trailing by a goal Farashganj left no stone unturned to score goals and also kept better control on the game when all 11 players including goalkeeper Mamun Alif left the post and come out but could not  find net.

Specially, the last opportunity to earn at least one point was denied by the cross piece when goalkeeper Mamun’s free kick from 25 yards shattered the cross bar in the injury period and Farashganj remained at the bottom side of the table with 14 points along with Rahmatganj.
