A fire broke out at Gulistan underground market in capital yesterday afternoon. However, no casualties were reported in the incident. The fire originated from a shop at the market at around 3pm yesterday. Fire Service and Civil Defence official said on information seven units of fire fighters rushed to the spot and douse the fire after an hour.
Market was closed on Friday but there were some development works was going on. The underground market of Gulistan mainly dealing in various electronics products, including mobile phones.
Goods of a mobile accessories shop were completely gutted in the fire but the cause of the fire and total extent of the damage could not be ascertained immediately said Ataur Rahman, duty officer, fire service head office. Mahmudul Haque, Officer-in-Charge Paltan Police Station, said after the incident the traffic over the market was hampered slightly.
